Renewal: A pledge for 2009

with No Comments

COVENT GARDEN — It’s the season of renewal. You may have sensed that. It’s not just a spring thing, but also the Easter message and a feeling that maybe (just maybe) there is some good economic news on the horizon.

I had breakfast with Ezri this morning and we had a good old philosophical discussion. And he suggested, at one point, that I wouldn’t consider my job done, as an organisational communications advocate, until every person found success and fulfilment in their work.

“No.” I replied, “my ambitions are more modest than that. I am happy if I can make one person happier in their job.”

Able and How, despite being a management consultancy, is touched with an enthusiasm and zeal. We believe that many simple things are not being done well. And our goal from the day we set up has been to make work a better place. In 2009 that’s something that I want to have a bigger affect on.

Unfortunately, the credit crunch and other business nuisances have set us back on that plan. It feels like we have needed a sign on our door saying “play suspended for rain”, but we have refused to be defeated.

We have a clear goal and a unique ability to make work better for more people. And we will do that.
